ION Man @ Extreme - Day 2

More organising than sailing today ... clipboard duty timing and judging ...

Really good day, and we got to crown Eastbourne's most Extreme ION Man too .... before sneaking out for a sail myself on more of Nik's toys ;-)

Sadly, I'd spent all day on the beach, and subsequently missed the best time to be on the water .... still, it was windy and launch wasn't an issue ... however the rip was noticeable, especially when I got cramp pinching upwind out the back ..... so, stretched a bit, then headed back in but was painful so just went with the flow a bit and landed up near Fort Fun :-( DOH !! Sat on beach and tried to stretch out the cramp, and thought it worth sneaking along shoreline back up a couple beaches (sneak of shame, rather than brazen walk) but the tide was up just far enough to make rounding of the one groyne nigh on impossible, so ... did the honourable thing, waterstarted and sailed out 50-100m and looked to tack and head back past the offending groyne only to notice I'd lost the whole beach I'd just discreetly reclaimed in the poxy rip. Got the hump and didn't want to risk cramp out the back so just sailed back in, and promptly stood on what could have been weaver fish ... proper bee sting feeling and got a bit more painful.
That was me done ... de-rigged on beach, walked back along prom, stopping off at Dr Baydrew's for some antiseptic wipe for my potential weaver wound, then back to Nik's van for abuse from Ant & Nik for my indiscreet attempts to steal his kit .... it had been noted that I'd tried to make off with his test 2010 Twin Fin 93 and a 5.3m ICE ... LOL
The sh*t they gave me .... and the brief period I wasn't pinching upwind in shitty conditions, it was sweet ... but when it went shitty I kinda wished I'd stolen the freewave 95
Bit torn really .... freewave 95 to suit the shitty conditions I sail in sometimes, and the twin 93 for the lighter wind Camber days .... maybe sneak both in the van somehow ?
